Four techniques
How our rugs are madeHandwoven
Woven entirely by hand on a frame, without knotting. Flat, light and honest — the weave itself is the pattern.
Handknotted
Each knot tied individually onto the warp. The densest and longest-lived of all our work, with a depth of colour machines cannot reach.
Handloom
Made by hand on a loom rather than knot by knot. Softer and lighter than knotted work, with an even surface and a quiet sheen.
Machine woven
Woven at high precision for consistency across large quantities, and available in roll widths for wall-to-wall work.

Living with a handmade rug
Care, honestlyShedding is normal
New wool rugs release loose fibre for the first months. Vacuum gently without a beater bar; it settles on its own.
Rotate twice a year
Light and footfall are never even across a room. Turning the rug keeps wear and colour consistent.
Blot, never rub
Lift spills with a dry cloth from the outside in. Rubbing pushes the stain into the pile and disturbs the weave.
Keep silk and tencel dry
These fibres mark with water. They belong in bedrooms and living rooms rather than entrances and dining areas.
Professional cleaning
Handmade pieces should be cleaned by a rug specialist, not a carpet machine. Once every few years is enough.
